CHIeru Launches ABLish® Nihon he GO!, a Multilingual Japanese Learning Service for Foreign Residents

CHIeru Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President & Representative Director: Mutsumi Kawai), a provider of ICT solutions for school education, announced that it will launch ABLish® Nihon he GO!, a multilingual Japanese-language learning service for foreign residents of Japan, in October 2026. This e-learning service is designed to help solve the everyday-life and employment challenges faced by the rapidly growing number of foreign residents, meeting both companies’ training needs and individuals’ immediate learning needs at vocational schools and other institutions. By delivering a diverse range of timely news articles every week, the service supports foreign residents in living independently and working smoothly in Japan.

Development Background

The number of foreign residents living in Japan is increasing year by year, and the need to learn Japanese is growing in both daily life and the workplace. While more and more companies are welcoming foreign employees, it is not easy for those in charge of training to prepare systematic Japanese-language materials, and learners themselves have had few opportunities to comfortably learn “the Japanese they need right now.”

CHIeru has applied the know-how it developed with ABLish®, its cloud-based English news learning service—turning fresh, current-affairs content into learning materials—to the field of Japanese-language learning. By combining multilingual support with AI-powered learning assistance, we developed ABLish® Nihon he GO! as a service that enables foreign residents with diverse native languages to learn at their own level and pace.

About ABLish® Nihon he GO!

ABLish® Nihon he GO! is an e-learning service that provides integrated learning of Japanese—reading, understanding, and writing—based on timely news articles in seven categories. Three new articles are added every week (12 per month), and learners can choose topics that interest them from Nature & Science, People & Culture, Politics & Economy, World & Japan, Industry & Technology, Health & Medicine, and Sports & Entertainment. Two Japanese levels, Basic and Advanced, are available for learners to choose from freely.

Key Features

○ Nine languages covering about 90% of foreign residents’ native languages
In addition to English, the service supports Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Vietnamese, Korean, Filipino, Portuguese, Nepali, and Indonesian. With translations into “English plus eight languages,” selected according to the countries of origin of foreign residents in Japan, the service covers about 90% of their native languages.

○ Bilingual chunking and audio to support reading
Japanese text is displayed side by side with a translation in the learner’s native language. During audio playback, the part being spoken is highlighted karaoke-style, so learners can link meaning and sound and read with ease. The service also includes a “Vocabulary” feature that picks out and explains key words that deepen understanding of the topic, as well as four to five comprehension questions for each topic.

○ AI essay correction to build writing skills
Each topic includes a Japanese writing task suited to the learner’s level. Learners complete a short essay by filling in the blanks following a guide, and as soon as one minute after submission, AI returns an overall comment, strengths, areas to improve, and a corrected version of the essay. Learners can go beyond reading and move all the way to output in one seamless flow.
