In the classroom, CaLabo can digitize any analog A/V media such as DVDs or CDs and broadcast to the students in real-time. Once an instructor has used this feature, the broadcasted A/V is automatically digitized and saved to media files. From the CaLabo teacher software, instructors can access the VOD server immediately and then upload those digitized contents to the VOD server immediately during the lesson. Instructors do not have to take much time creating content.

Instructors can manage uploaded materials by adding categories and keyword tags on the VOD server. Thus, students can easily find course materials which they had just used in the classroom.
Once the learning materials are uploaded to the VOD server, students can access them from anywhere on campus or at home for self study. In the language lab, instructors can select VOD content seamlessly from CaLabo's VOD control panel and broadcast it to students simultaneously

The VOD server tracks student activities. This allows instructors to check student progress and performance. Instructors can also find out which content is popular from users at a glance.
To view VOD content, students don't need any special software. The client player is installed as a plug-in for Internet Explorer and is automatically installed when a user accesses the VOD Server from Internet Explorer for the first time. Since the system is entirely web-based, instructors can simply add the VOD media link to any course management system to add class materials for the course.
Institutions can also set up a single sign-on environment with other server products by LDAP authentication.
