History

Chieru was founded in October 2006, in Tokyo, Japan as a joint venture of Alps System Intergration Co., Ltd. (ALSI - IT company in ALPS Electric Group) and Obunsha Co., Ltd. (one of the largest education publishers in Japan), to meet its growing needs of ICT in education for Japanese Schools.

1990	ALSI (Alps System Integration) established in Ota-ku, Tokyo as a subsidiary of Alps Electric Co., Ltd.
1996	Sendai office established.
1997	Japan's first Internet Filtering service launched by ALSI. Obunsha Digital Institute established in Shinjuku-Ku, Tokyo as a subsidiary of Obunsha Co., Ltd. e-Learning system, SMART-HTML, launched.
1999	Osaka office established. ALSI acquires capital in Obunsha Digital Institute. System recovery software, WinKeeper, launched. Internet resources service, Kidswave, launched.
2000	Digital language lab system, CaLabo 2000, launched. ESL contents packages for CaLabo system, launched. ESL contents packages for SMART-HTML, launched. ESL contents packages CD-ROM version, launched. Internet filtering software, InterSafe, launched.
2001	NetStar, inc. established in Ota-ku, Tokyo as joint venture of ALSI and Trend Micro, K.K. Nagoya office established.
2002	r />Fukuoka office and Okinawa office established. Obunsha Digital Institute chosen for the IT Education Model Project (E-square Advance project) company by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Japan's first fully digital language lab system, CaLabo EX , launched. TOEIC(R) test score up series, High School English series launched. Video teaching resource, ContentsBox, launched.
2003	US office established.
2004	Software Development center established in Dalian, China
2005	CALL System Study Group established. CHIeru.net (IT Education portal site) opened. School system management software, InterMANAGER , launched. Computer lab control software, InterCLASS, launched.
2006	ALSI Honored to Receive the Garland ISD FOCUS Award for the third year in a row in the US (Garland, Texas, USA). CHIeru. CO., Ltd. was founded.
2007	CHIeru Education Private Show held in 7 cities in Japan. Flashcard education contents seminar held in 5 Cities in Japan. InterCLASS3.0 and eNetStar Cast launched. Digital Language Lab System CaLabo EX 5.0 launched.
